Default Golf GTi mk2 - 'Ring car

Well instead of tkaing my Porsche this year and a new mortgage for the fuel to get there I have borught this!

The car is completely stripped out and well spec'd:

1.8 rebored to 1.9 on K-jet
big kent cam (idle sounds great!)
koni's
polubushed all round
16v brakes and uprated pads/disks
loud exhuast (just trackday ok)

So the plans are to swap the wheels for some MOs I have and wrap them in R888s and put a decent clutch in there

Should be good!

more pics:

Havent got a clue mate,!

Heard a few stories about them not being good in the wet, verging on dangerous, just wondering if I should get some for my trip

Well today I collected the parts I'm going to need:

Cam belt kit
oil, filters, plugs, leads
Anitfreeze
Clutch - most importantly!!!

Also brought a gallon of Nitromores and 1/2 a litre of matt black paint!

So this afternoon I started stripping the wheel - I'd forgotten how slow it is still got two rims ready to spray.

I'll get pictures up after the weekend.

Finished the wheels...

here they are in undercoat:

and here they are not quite dry - so a little shiny, they are totally matt now

Also fixed the clutch... can you see a problem or two?

It should look more like this!

Update!

Well it didn't make the Ring... just too many set backs, the final ones being a huge water leak (rotten metal coolant pipe) and the clutch being crap (adjustment issues in the end).

Anyway as of today its up and running!!

So here are a few pics from today, tomrrow its getting some stickers.
